Print Folio Demonstrating Versatility

The Stan Harrison Memorial Trophy: Print Folio

Stan Harrison (Mr G S Harrison) was made an Honorary Member of IPS in 1957. Stan was a very well known photographer from the Melbourne Camera Club and had won many national photography awards during the 1940s and 1950s. After he passed away in 1963, the IPS Committee created a memorial trophy and new annual competition in his honour. The proposal came from George Hunt, the former IPS President, to create a competition of three prints in a folio that demonstrated the versatility of the worker. The Stan Harrison Memorial trophy is one of the two longest annually awarded trophies at IPS, together with the Curtis Trophy. After 1987, with the introduction of a new theme-based folio competition, the Folio Demonstrating Versatility competition has been run biennially.
